Southbank promenade stretches along the southern bank of the Yarra River from Princess Bridge to the Crown Casino. Southbank was until recently a neglected industrial area on the southern bank of the Yarra River, it has been rejuvenated to compliment Melbourne’s entertainment precinct adjacent to the central city area. The Yarra River is the prominent feature with walk bridges linking to the CBD, grass areas to enjoy along the rivers banks and river cruises setting the scene for the restaurants and entertainment facilities. The main focal point is Southgate with upmarket shops and restaurants, trendy cafes, food courts and a five-star hotel. You can even hire a pushbike to travel around with ease to see everything Southbank has on offer.
